Project: Forming human values through education with trees in Argentina
Country of implementation: Argentina
Educar Forestando is the primary activity of ACUDE (Environment, Culture and Development Foundation), a non-profit organization. The program on environment and forest education targets teachers because they are partners in the formation of values in children. The children learn to respect the environment by producing and planting trees; they collect seeds and plant them in containers stemming from domestic waste and build a tree nursery of two square meters at school to raise the trees. Finally they plant the trees. Since 1990 150,000 children were involved in more than 1,000 schools, half a million trees were produced and 200,000 trees were planted communally. Through this successfull and tangible way, we help to generate an environmental awareness and to fight against to global warming.
